The Digital Multilogue on Fashion Education 2024 demonstrated an innovative hybrid event format, merging in-person gatherings with a global digital framework. sought to delve into the intersections of different fashion learning cultures and contexts. It aims to explore and illustrate the diversity and complexity of the field and the practices of fashion education, and to foster a greater understanding of its pasts, presents and futures – methods, values and didactic, pedagogic and epistemological questions – creating a global exchange to inspire mutual learning, collaborative research and shared action.
The Digital Multilogue on Fashion Education 2024 was a collective experience. People met in-person in a location of their choice and joined the Multilogue as a group. Or, joined alone to connect with the global community online. it brought fashion educators and students worldwide together under the theme “Grief, Exnovation, and Mutual Learning.” Participants were encouraged to meet locally in small groups to share ideas, make, cook, and connect, joining the larger online community for opening and closing sessions. With guest lectures Rahemur Rahman, who explored themes of heritage and community within design, drawing from his unique background and experiences, and Alexandra Jones, who focused on mindful approaches to fashion media and innovative ways to stay grounded in the present moment.
It uses a collaborative and performative learning approach, blending synchronous and asynchronous activities to engage participants in reflective discussions on fashion education.
